About the book:
31 Biblical Devotions to meditate on the cross - God's glory
Be captured by the wisdom, power, grace and wonder of Calvary. These devotional meditations take you to the heart of the Gospel. They will fill you with awe of God.
The cross is central to the Christian faith and this devotional focuses attention there. I loved the title Captured by Calvary. This small book contains 31 devotions which would make it ideal for a daily reading plan perhaps leading up to Easter, but really appropriate for any time.
I thought it particularly appropriate that Ray Hawkins mentioned in Day 3’s devotion, ‘ Is it any wonder the forces of darkness hate the message of the Cross. It is the never ending story of their defeat, humiliation and ultimate destiny. ‘ Ray then goes on to explain that it doesn’t mean Satan and his minions ' sulk and leave us alone’ but explains how these forces of evil try an operate in our world today to make us ineffective. Of course he doesn’t leave it there, but goes on to give the way to overcome such a battle. There are lots of other gems scattered throughout this book.
Much of the content was a familiar message but put across in a fresh way. I loved the way each devotional focuses on different aspects of the cross, and also on how that affects us and what it means for us today. As well as the cross it always focuses on the other essential - the resurrection. This is a little book with a big message. Thanks to Even Before Publishing for another great production.
